One Man, One Truck

Founded in 1969 by Jim Longo with a single pickup truck, Ideal Welders was built on determination, craftsmanship, and an unwavering commitment to quality. Since then, we’ve grown into an industry leader—and we operate with the same grit, passion, and precision that started it all.

Expanding Our Expertise

Our greatest strength lies in our team—committed professionals, skilled fabricators, and driven individuals—who embody resilience, a strong work ethic, and an unwavering desire to grow and overcome any challenge.

Our Journey

Pipeline projects

By the late 1990s and early 2000s, we expanded into major pipeline projects, including the installation of a gas line running from Alberta to southern British Columbia. This ambitious project required creative solutions to challenges that highlighted our engineering ingenuity.

Winter Olympics

A defining moment in our history came in 2006 when we took on the Whistler Sliding Centre for the Winter Olympics. To overcome logistical and environmental constraints, we fabricated all components at our facility, significantly reducing on-site work hours while improving efficiency and safety.

Mining Projects

Our work fabricating a coal stacker showcased our expertise in large-scale fabrication and installation. We supplied and installed 9 km of 46-inch diameter, Grade X70 penstock both above and below grade, along with fabricating the powerhouse bifurcation and valve stations. Ideal Welders also handled all coatings and testing, ensuring the project met the highest standards.

Trans Mountain Pipeline

Ideal Welders played a key role in the Trans Mountain Pipeline project, providing supply and fabrication of piping, API storage tanks, structural steel, and a complete tank farm overhaul. Our contributions to critical energy infrastructure reflect our ability to deliver high-quality, large-scale solutions.

Where We Are Today

Today, Ideal Welders operates one of the largest pressure vessel and piping fabrication shops in British Columbia, with a 250,000-square-foot facility and a workforce of over 125 employees. Our success is built on providing opportunities for skilled individuals, fostering a culture of continuous improvement, and maintaining a deep commitment to our clients.

Through every challenge and expansion, we have remained true to our roots—offering innovative, customized solutions and ensuring that every project is completed with excellence.
